Like the monk by the sea searching for God in the widths of the waves Like you were caressing my ankles while I was screaming like a fucking animal I don't know what fiction is all of this is true my honesty comes from the fear of being seen through What colour is confidence And how does the abyss taste? I simply guess like anger and bliss What's a poem worth In a mephitic world looking for some place to rest I don't know what fiction is all of this is true my honesty comes from the fear of being seen through Like my eyes shone like the sun Like my body weighed a ton Like my hands were made to sweep Like my courage bleeds I don't know what fiction is all of this is true my honesty comes from the fear of being seen through

It's like bright lights could dry your eyes and darkness would make you happy It's like all these beautiful night skies in the cities that made you that nasty We both know we are too different to change the world we're just too tired to turn it into a better place You can't compare the moon to the sun because they don't like each other it's like heaven and hell and it's your turn to assign them to each other I know I have to try to remember how it had to come to the end but it's quite hard to remember something that never really happened It's quite hard to remember something that cut you like a knife We both know we are too different to change the world we're just too tired to turn it into a better place You can't compare the moon to the sun because they don't like each other it's like heaven and hell and it's your turn to assign them to each other

It sadly seems you have to grieve some years to be finally able to feel pure joy To wake up with a neutral mind With a reserved handshake you welcome your fears So it's hard for me to answer this: Why don't you just love life? Why don't you just demand a smile? Why don't you just love your life? Why don't you just smile? Through my body flows ache and endless regrets But there's space for some rest and sleep And for more visions to make I'm still into heart melting love songs And I'm still affected by the tragic of loss I get everything from being alone I try to forget everything that's gone Still it's hard to respond to this: Why don't you just love life? Why don't you just demand a smile? Why don't you just love your life? Why don't you just smile? And I'm not afraid anymore...

about

In November 2010 we recorded our first three songs. Five weeks after we founded this band. We just wanted to look how it sounds on tape and maybe show it to some friends.
Ten years after that we're still making music together, recorded several records and played some tours. We grew up with this band as well as our friendship grew with it.
So, as we thought about making a "birthday record" while taking a walk in the woods during summer 2019, the title YEARS OF BRUTALISM seemed to fit perfectly and it still does.
The songs may be a little different from when we started, but as everything moves on and changes, we grew up a bit, too and so did our taste in making music.

We started with three songs ten years ago and now we're here with four new songs again. How awesome is that?!
Oh...you might wonder that the new songs aren't that sad as our former records. Tja, sag ich da, muss ja irgendwie weitergehen.

credits

released October 9, 2020

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Andreas Bröker at Lagerstreet Studios, Hövelhof in summer 2020.

All songs written, arranged and performed by Somebody Loves You.
Drums by Flori Florensen.

The cover picture was taken by some random dude at the wedding of the Gruschka-Family in May 2019. Seriously, we don't remember anymore who took it. But it captures perfectly what this band is about. Franziska Hohmann finally put the artwork together.

Somebody Loves You has always been, is and will forever be: kristfred.
